We’ve always known that Fourways is the best place to live in Joburg and the new developments are making it better, but we didn’t realise that there are over a billion rand, sorry, reasons why that’s true.
Shopping lovers, sit down for this: The new Fourways Mall will be 178,000m2 once it’s complete. To understand exactly what that number means, let’s put it this way: The new mall will be the biggest in Sub-Saharan Africa! And with over 8 000 parking bays, there’s space for everyone to pull in. If you are not a shopping lover, you should still be excited, because a lot of revenue is going to start pouring into our hood. Ka-ching!
How much for that house?
All that money isn’t just going to stay in the mall developers’ pockets. It’s landing in ours too! Research by Property24 shows that despite a generally slow property market, prices in Fourways are increasing. The average selling price for a house is R2.255 million, and the average apartment sells for R1.5 million. Nice!
Planes, trains and automobiles
Jam goes on toast, not in traffic. Did you know that both Steyn City and Fourways Mall have paid to upgrade the roads around them? Steyn City has contributed a hefty R1 billion (!!!) to upgrading the R511, William Nicol and Cedar roads, as well as sewage and water infrastructure. The developers of Fourways Mall spent R300 million widening Witkoppen Road and building the flyovers that will take motorists directly into the mall parking.
Getting into Fourways is going to get much easier with a Gautrain station in the works, as well as an expected upgrade to Lanseria Airport. They’re in talks with Botswanan, Namibian and Mauritian airlines, so hold thumbs.
The grass is greener in Fourways!
