When the weekend is calling and you are wondering what the whole family can do together that doesn’t involve a screen, we have the answer. Make the kids scream… with joy, of course! These are four of our fave family fun spots.
1. Sun and snow
Avalanche at Cedar Square is amazing! Hike up to the top of the ramp, strap on your board or skis (or just hold onto your rubber tube) and love the thrill. Everyone is welcome on the 65 metre slope, from experienced skiers to first-timers, and there is also assistance for little kids so they don’t have to go down alone.
It’s also a fun venue for kids’ parties. Grown up ones too, really – they have drinks and amazing pizzas.
Xtreme Indoor Karting (also at Cedar) is a speed freak’s dream. This is not just any go-karting track. There are souped up engines (hello Honda 270cc) and professional karts (yes, such things exist).
There is also a bar and restaurant, so all your needs are taken care of. No drinking and driving though.
If any of the “bigger kids” think about riding a go-kart down the ski slope, the answer is NO!
3. Boing boing
Look, if you haven’t gone to Bounce, the time has come for you to spring into the joy. There are Bounces all over the country, but ours at Fourways Mall is extra special, because you can lazily hop across the field-like trampoline, or fling yourself against the foamy walls in the stunt section.
Other special things at Fourways are the Clip and Climb wall and the extreme X-Park with climbing, jumping and aerial running. There’s also a coffee shop where you can wait for the kids to exhaust themselves.
4. There’s no such thing as too much fun!
For every kind of entertainment, Fun Company at the Mall is a must. It’s got laser tag, spinning go-carts, an arcade, and bowling lanes. The only drawback is that the kids will want to go all the time. Did we mention that there is also a sports bar?
