With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we started hunting for restaurants for date spots and found some hot, spicy and sweet places to take your crush so you don’t have to impress them with a home cooked meal. Because that can end in disaster – trust us, we know. Pick your restaurant and remember to make a reservation. There’s nothing romantic about driving around and then ending up at a drive through.

Easy tiger!
It’s no secret that we are fans of Tiger’s Milk at Cedar Square. The vibe is cool, the bar is gorgeously retro, the service is good and most importantly the food is amazing. Now you might not think that burgers and pizza would be good for a romantic date, but you’ll have a legit excuse to lick your date’s cheek when they get burger sauce on their face.
They’re running a competition where people who make reservations for Valentine’s Day stand the chance to get their meal for free. Don’t wait!

Spicy
MasterChef SA’s first winner, Deena Naidoo, serves up a unique fusion of flavours and spices at his restaurant Aarya at Montecasino. Their prawn curry is out of this world! This Valentine’s Day, for R360 a person, you and your date will be treated to a three course meal and a complimentary glass of sparkling wine.

Dinner and dancing
Rodizio at Leaping Frog is known for its dinner and dancing nights. This Valentine’s Day, they have a set three-course meal and welcome drink for R360. Of course, there will be dancing, so you can impress your date with some sultry moves. (Don’t have sultry moves? Get YouTubing!)

Italian romance
Named after a mythological she-wolf (ooh!), Lupa Osteria at Design Quarter offers a cosy Italian atmosphere that is made for getting close to special someone. For a texture and taste sensation, order the slow roasted pork with crispy crackling. (They also have a vegan menu if that’s your style.) Or, if you think you can pull off a Lady and the Tramp style kiss, go for one of their homemade pastas. Finish it off with a Nutella crème brûlée, with smashed Amaretti biscuits, salted caramel gelato and Italian meringue.
