The gin craze is not going anywhere, phew, so we are trying all of these gin cocktail recipes! While there is nothing wrong with good old lemon and mint in a GnT, there is a whole universe of possibilities waiting out there for us. Not all of them even use tonic. Get your cocktail shakers and call your friends!

Italian sunshine
There’s nothing not gorgeous about the Amalfi Coast in Italy. The fact that George Clooney has a villa there has not influenced our opinion at all… But long before George arrived, the region was renowned for its citrus, which is where Malfy gin comes in. We love the vibrant colour (and taste) of their Con Arancia. The orange flavour works perfectly in their La Bella Vista cocktail. Simply pour 2 parts Malfy Con Arancia over ice in a highball glass. Then add 3 parts fresh grapefruit juice and a splash of soda. Simple and summery!

Roaring with flavour
During American Prohibition, speakeasies (illegal bars) were known as Blind Tigers, which inspired the name of this local gin brand. It’s a smooth blend of angelica root and coriander, with a slight sweetness. Its citrusy finish is thanks to hints of lemongrass and passionflower. These notes are brought to the fore in the White Tiger, a refreshing blend of gin, lime, lemongrass, litchi and ginger beer.

Blue bliss
Six Dogs is one of the most eye catching local gins thanks to its colour. It’s a gorgeous blue, and when you mix it with tonic, it mellows to a soft pinky purple. The colour is all natural and caused by the blue pea flower they make it from. They also claim it’s an aphrodisiac… Enhance the delicate flavours by serving it with your favourite tonic, lavender, blueberries and pansies. Putting flowers in cocktails counts towards getting your fruit and veg five-a-day, right?

Pretty as a picture
Musgrave makes a pretty pink gin that’s infused with rose water to balance out the spiciness of the brand’s flagship gin. We love using it in this Yuppiechef recipe. Simply mix the gin with pomegranate juice and top with soda water. Garnish with pomegranate jewels and mint and you have summer in a glass.
