Did you know that 29 July is Lasagna Day? Whoever came up with that is a genius, and to have it on a Sunday in the middle of winter is just perfect. To celebrate, we found four amazing lasagna recipes (and restaurants if you’re not in the mood for cooking).
With layers of rich beefy tomato sauce, creamy bechamel and silky sheets of pasta, no wonder beef lasagna is a classic. Try this version by Judy Kim from Delish. Wanna go out? Pellegrino Toscano at Cedar Square is where you need to be.
You don’t need to be a vegetarian to love Jamie Oliver’s spinach and ricotta cannelloni. He describes it as “an impressive yet simple pasta dish that kids can help you cook” – so get everyone in the kitchen! We also love the cannelloni at Ciao Baby Cucina at Montecasino.
Everyone loves chicken
Can’t choose between beef or vegetarian? Go for chicken! This recipe made us all kinds of happy. So does the chicken lasagna at Doppio Zero at Pineslopes.
Just across the ocean
Hop your taste buds over the Mediterranean Sea to Greece and try pastitsio. It’s a Greek baked pasta with beef and penne, topped with a creamy sauce. This version by The Mediterranean Dish has a lighter bechamel, but it’s still lusciously smooth. You can also go to Toula’s at Fourways Mall for a plate of this yumminess.
